NCC camp begins

The 10-day camp of the 31 Kerala Battalion National Cadet Corps (NCC) is under way at the Government Polytechnic College at Thottada here.

The battalion, in a press release, said 700 cadets from six northern districts are participating in the camp that began on May 2.

Selection and preliminary training of cadets to represent the State in the Thal Sainik camp to be held in New Delhi by the end of the year will also be done at the camp.

Also included at the NCC camp are weapons training, drill, firing, map reading, personality development class, awareness on lifestyle diseases, and bunker-busting drill, the release said.

The camp was inaugurated by battalion Commandant Col. N.A. Shinagare.

Lt. Surendran K. presided. Lt. Col. T.T. Murali, Subedar Major K. Prakashan, C.K. Anilkumar, K.K. Vinod Kumar, Rameshan K., C. Prabhavathi, and Krishna Swaroop were among those present at the inaugural function.
