Director-General of Police (DGP), Jacob Punnoose said that the presence of Naxalites was suspected in the forest areas of the State.

Speaking to reporters after addressing a camp of the Student Cadet Police here on Wednesday, Mr. Punnoose said that Naxalites from the States of Jharkhand, Odhisha and Chhattisgarh were visiting the State.

But there were no proof of them indulging in terrorist-like activities in the State. They were coming to the southern parts of the country after giving a miss to the police of their respective States.

He said that police have already started an investigation jointly with other agencies including the State Forest Department into the activities of the ultra-left in the forest areas of the State. He said that he could not disclose more details on the subject.
