Navy gears up for celebrations

‘Navy Fest’, part of the Naval Week celebrations this year, will be held between November 21 and 23 during which people can visit Indian naval ships and aircraft and understand the role played by the Navy in safeguarding Indian waters, said a press release here.

As part of the celebrations an inter-school quiz competition will be held on November 20 at the Naval Base. The Naval Command will also organise a medical camp at Missionaries of Charity Home for the differently abled at Mattancherry on November 30.

A demonstration of Naval operations to familiarise people will be held in the waters off the Rajendra Maidan in the city on December 14 between 4.30 p.m. and 6.30 p. m. A full dress rehearsal for the demonstration will be held on December 13.

The press release said that while Subhash Park would be open to the public, entry into the Rajendra Maidan would be on invitation.

In the build up to the Naval Week celebrations 2014, goodwill services were carried out at Don Bosco Sneha Bhavan, Palluruthy and at Valsalya Bhavan, a home for girls at Vyttila for three days from November 3.
