After a rash of violent incidents in the wake of the local body elections, Nadapuram and Kuttiadi in Kozhikode district have limped back to normal and remained peaceful on Tuesday.

The police said no untoward incidents were reported till the evening on Tuesday. However, areas that fall under the Nadapuram and Valayam police-station limits would continue to be under prohibitory orders till 10 a.m. on Wednesday. Police sources said the personnel brought from outside for security duty during the elections were being withdrawn.

Violent incidents were reported late night on Monday and in the early hours of Tuesday from Balussery and Kuttiadi.

Balussery witnessed disturbances late night on Monday. Reports said three workers of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) and a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) received stab injuries during clashes in separate incidents on Monday.

A hartal was observed in Ekaroor on Tuesday to protest against an attack on a shop belonging to a BJP worker on Monday night. The hartal passed off peacefully.

Some Janata Dal (Secular) leaders complained that their party office in Meppayur was attacked and damaged in post-poll violence.

A country bomb was hurled at a house in Theekuni, within the Kuttiadi police station limits, in the wee hours of Tuesday . Incidents of stone-throwing were reported from some places in Vadakara taluk. The police are patrolling the area.
