N. Ram, Board of Trustee, M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) and Chairman, Kasturi and Sons Limited, will inaugurate the trainers’ training centre (TTC) for biodiversity under the community agro-biodiversity centre (CABC) of the foundation here on Saturday.
The centre envisages comprehensive training for trainers for achieving the UN sustainable development goals, N. Anilkumar, Director, CABC, said. The centre would focus on capacity building of officials, elected members of local-self governments, and other key stakeholders on UN sustainable development goals such as zero hunger, food security and improved nutrition, and sustainable agriculture, Dr. Anilkumar added.
The interdisciplinary training is also targeted at policymakers, mediapersons, political, youth and religious leaders, teachers, and practitioners in the area of sustainable resource management and livelihoods, he said.
These goals will be achieved by imparting background knowledge, skills, and practical learning in the ‘4 C’ areas (conservation, cultivation, consumption and commerce of biodiversity) that the MSSRF has been promoting as a practical approach for biodiversity conservation and sustainable rural development, he added.
The TTC has been set up on the premises of the MSSRF with the capacity to accommodate 300 people.
