M.V. Raghavan remains critical

The condition of M.V. Raghavan, Communist Marxist Party (CMP) leader and former Minister, remains serious, a medical bulletin issued by the Academy of Medical Sciences (Pariyaram Medical College) said here on Wednesday.

Mr. Raghavan’s condition was not satisfactory, hospital superintendent M.K. Balachandran said in the bulletin. The functioning of the lungs was affected due to pneumonia, Dr. Balachandran said adding that the patient had suffered a mild cardiac arrest and there were also symptoms of hemorrhage in the stomach. There was only slight response to medicines, the bulletin said adding that the next 48 hours would be crucial.

Mr. Raghavan, who was former chairman of the medical college, was admitted to the hospital on September 17. The patient’s blood sugar and blood pressure were under control. Mr. Ragahvan had been under treatment for Parkinson’s disease. A team of doctors was examining him, Dr. Balachandran said.
