Ramankary Judicial First Class Magistrate Subitha Chirakkal, on Tuesday, rejected the bail application moved by eight of the accused in the Paul Muthoot George murder case.

The accused, including first accused Jayachandran and seven others – Kaari Satheesh, Sattar, Rajiv Kumar, Sathish, Nibin Thomas, Binu Joseph, Sujith – had moved the petition, pointing out that the court had returned the charge sheet and hence, they were eligible for statutory bail.

However, the court rejected the application after observing the given the background of the accused that there were strong possibilities of their interfering with and obstructing the investigation into the murder, apart from chances of destroying the evidence and even forging documents. Further, there were no particular circumstances under which the accused had to be granted bail.
