Murali seeks action against police officers

October 09, 2012 04:31 am | Updated October 18, 2016 02:50 pm IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

Congress MLA K. Muraleedharan has urged Chief Minister Oommen Chandy to initiate stringent action against the police officers who concocted the ISRO espionage case against the former United Democratic Front (UDF) government and tried to malign the image of the late Chief Minister and his father, K. Karunakaran.

In a letter to the Chief Minister on Monday, Mr. Muraleedharan said the UDF government’s decision to drop the action proposed by the CBI against the police officers involved in the case, 43 days after assuming office, was mysterious.

‘Shocking move’

A Congress government exonerating those who worked against a UDF government was a shocking move that defied normal reasoning and logic, he said.

The officers, by forging false cases against ISRO scientists of international reputation, had committed treason.

Stringent action should be taken against them, he said.

VS poser to Chandy

Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan has asked Chief Minister Oommen Chandy to come clean on the allegations relating to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) espionage case.

Replying to questions from presspersons here on Monday, Mr. Achuthanandan said now that the High Court had directed immediate payment of part of the compensation ordered by the National Human Rights Commission to former ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan, Mr. Chandy had the responsibility to divulge the truth about the espionage case.
