Communist Party of India (Marxist) State secretariat member A.K. Balan has said the problems in the Mundur area committee of the party will not become like that at Onchiyam.

Talking to presspersons after a meeting of the district secretariat of the party here on Wednesday, Mr. Balan said the district committee had decided to refer the matter to the State committee. The State panel, he said, will the solve the problems. He denied that there was a split in the party at Mundur. The action taken against Mundur area committee secretary P.A. Gokuldas was in keeping with the principles of the party’s organisational set-up.

Mr. Gokuldas had called a convention of his supporters at Mundur on Tuesday and formed a 19-member parallel area committee. A large number of area, local, and branch committee members including elected representatives of six grama panchayats in the area attended the convention.
