Hostel facility arranged for three girls from Wayanad

Timely intervention by Rajya Sabha Member K. Somaprasad enabled three girls from the Adivasi community at Pulpally in Wayanad continue their studies at the Government Higher Secondary School here, where they had secured admission for Plus One.

Ashwathy, Kavya, and Sania, who got admission to the school, decided to discontinue studies soon afterwards and went back to Pulpally because they did not get any hostel facility here, and Kollam was a long way from home.

On learning about it, Mr. Somaprasad quickly intervened and arranged for the girls to stay at the post-matric hostel at Mundakkal in the city. The girls and their parents were informed about it. On Monday, two of the girls returned to Kollam and the third one will reach on Tuesday.

The two girls who returned, called on Mr. Somaprasad along with their parents and thanked him for his intervention. The MP presented them with educational kits. The girls said they would start attending classes from Tuesday.
