More women to join Excise soon: Minister

Women’s representation will be increased in the Excise force, Excise Minister T.P. Ramakrishnan has said.

He was speaking after taking the salute at the passing-out parade of the 17th batch of civil excise officers and second batch of women civil excise officers at the Excise Academy here on Saturday. He said additional posts of 138 women civil excise officers will be created in the force.

In all, 50 civil excise officers and 31 women civil excise officers completed training at the academy. They included 22 postgraduates, three B.Tech. graduates, two MBA holders and 40 graduates.

Excise Commissioner Rishiraj Singh, Additional Excise Commissioner A. Vijayan and State Excise Academy and Research Centre Principal Mohammed Siyad participated.
