Molestation: victim critical

September 24, 2016 12:00 am | Updated November 01, 2016 08:39 pm IST - Thrissur:

The condition of a 58-year-old woman who was sexually molested by two neighbours at Mulloorkkara, near Wadakkanchery, turned critical on Friday.

The police said two persons, who barged into her house at Vazhakkode colony on Wednesday, molested her in front of her five-year-old granddaughter.

The victim was admitted to Thrissur Medical College Hospital following heavy bleeding. Though she regained consciousness on Thursday, her condition became critical on Friday.

The police arrested her two neighbours on the basis of her statement. Her husband, daughter, and son-in-law were not at home at the time of the attack. The daughter, who reached home, found the woman on the floor in a critical condition.

Meanwhile, the victim’s daughter received a threatening phone call on Friday demanding negotiation in the case. The caller asked the daughter not to create unnecessary controversies.

Minister for Cooperation and Tourism A.C. Moideen called on the woman at the hospital. A directive has been given to hospital authorities to constitute a special team for treatment of the woman, he said.

However, there are complaints that the Minister’s assurance for free treatment has not been complied with. The poor family is reportedly struggling to find money for treatment. Meanwhile, the local people alleged that one more person is involved in the case.
