Mohammed Nisham’s bail plea rejected

March 08, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - Thrissur:

District Principal Sessions Judge B. Sudeendrakumar on Saturday rejected the bail plea of controversial businessman Mohammed Nisham in the Chandrabose murder case.

The prosecution argued that as Nisham had high-level connections, the release of the accused on bail would adversely affect the investigation.

There was tight security on the court premises in the wake of the alleged threat to Nisham by Shiv Sena and Maoist groups. Shadow police and special branch sleuths were deployed on the court premises.

The relatives of Chandrabose on Saturday handed over documents and details of the case and a petition seeking CBI investigation to Leader of the Opposition V.S Achuthanandan.

They alleged that there was no progress in the case even after the Home Minister, who visited them, promised to take necessary steps. Meanwhile, Malayalavedi president George Vattukulam filed a petition with the Lokayukta against State Police Chief K.S. Balasubramanian in connection with an allegation that he tried to protect Nisham.
