Defence Minister A.K. Antony on Saturday said Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks against him were inappropriate and did not behove a person who aspired to be the prime minister.
At a meet-the-press, organised by the Thiruvananthapuram Press Club here, he said, “No true patriot would make such comments in order to get cheap publicity. Such remarks by a person who aspired to be prime minister will only serve to demoralise the armed forces and indirectly help the enemy.”
Mr. Modi had said that Pakistan’s AK-47 rifle, Mr. Antony and Mr. Kejriwal were enough to destabilise peace in Kashmir and rest of the country and called Mr. Antony and Mr. Kejriwal agents of Pakistan. “These three AKs are sustaining terrorism in Kashmir and other parts of India,” he said at an election rally in Jammu and Kashmir on March 26.
