Mobile app for Sabarimala pilgrims

November 20, 2014 02:24 am | Updated 02:24 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

RailYatri.in has partnered with Southern Railway to launch an app exclusively for Sabarimala pilgrims to coincide with the Mandala-Makaravilakku season that commenced on Monday.

The first-of-its-kind dedicated mobile app for Sabarimala pilgrims hosts unique features such as one-click live arrival and departure train information for railway stations from where one can proceed to Sabarimala.

With this, the pilgrims do not have to worry about getting the timetable of trains or booking a taxi to reach Pampa from the railway station. Important travel alerts will be shared with the users. All this and much more can be done with just a swipe.

“When there is an app for booking movie tickets, ordering pizza, an app for Sabarimala, the biggest religious event of south India, makes much sense,” Manish Rathi, co-founder and chief executive officer of RailYatri.in., said in an e-mail to The Hindu .

“It is time we bridged the gap between worshippers and God through technology and also helped Railways in whatever little way we can,” he added.

One can go to www.railyatri.in and download the app from the homepage or can directly download it from the Google Play store, http://bit.ly/RYSabarimala.
