Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash has said that Pathanamthitta district stood second at the national level in terms of appointment of legal guardians for differently abled persons.
The district has got this national achievement with the Revenue Minister handing over the legal guardianship certificate to 66 guardians at a function held at the Karthika Nair Memorial Rehabilitation Centre at Nannoor, near Vallamkulam, on Saturday.
The Minister recalled the plight of the guardians of the differently abled persons suffering from autism, cerebral palsy, etc during the recently held mass contact programme of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in Pathanamthitta.
Pension sanctioned
He said the Chief Minister had sanctioned pension to the guardians of the differently abled persons at the programme.
Those guardians who have not yet applied for pension could very well apply for the same, Mr. Prakash added.
