Minister for Tourism wants Sports Hub to host match

Minister for Tourism Kadakampally Surendran has urged the authorities to organise the one-day international match between India and West Indies at the Sports Hub in Kazhakuttam instead of at the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium in Kochi.

In a press release, the Minister said the Sports Hub was one of the best stadiums in the country now, which had won accolades for hosting a cricket match on a rainy day last year. “Though we got the information that the BCCO fixture committee had decided to hold the fifth ODI here in November, it is now being said the match will be shifted to Kochi. No one will contest the fact that the Sports Hub is ideal for the one-day match. This issue should not be seen based on regional sentiments. The stadium is Kerala’s pride,” Minister said.
