Scheduled Tribe and Youth Welfare Minister P.K. Jayalakshmi will visit the remote tribal grama panchayat of Edamalakkudy on April 2 and 3.

There are 719 tribal families in the 27 settlements of Muthuvans in Edamalakkudy.

The minister will hear the complaints of people at Edalipparakudy. From there she will move to Societykudy where representatives of all settlements will attend a meeting convened to discuss a comprehensive development plan for the panchayat.

She will be the first minister to reach Edamalakkudy and former Assembly Speaker K. Radhakrishnan was the first Cabinet member to reach Edamalakkudy in 2009, prior to its creation as tribal grama panchayat which was carved out of the Munnar grama panchayat.
