Revenue Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan inaugurated the Vidyadhiraja Chattampi Swami Memorial on the banks of river Pampa at Cherukolpuzha near Kozhencherry on Thursday.

Inaugurating the memorial, the Minister said Chattampi Swami was a great sage and social reformer of the 20th century whose contributions to the socio-spiritual realms were immense.

Mr Radhakrishnan has lauded the initiatives taken by the Ayroor-Cherukolpuzha Hindumatha Maha Mandalam (HMM) in propagating the spiritual teachings and philosophy of Vidyadhiraja Chattampi Swami.

The memorial was constructed by the HMM spending Rs 35 lakhs.

He said the Government has extended every assistance for the smooth conduct of the annual Hindu religious meet which was initiated by the Swami on the sandbed of river Pampa at Cherukolpuzha a century ago.

Hindu meet begins on Sunday

The Ayroor-Cherukolpuzha Hindumatha Maha Mandalam is celebrating the centenary of the annual Hindu religious meet from February 5 to 12.

Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, renowned spiritual leader, will inaugurate the centenary meet at a ceremonial function to be held at a specially prepared pandal on the sprawling sandbed of Pampa at Cherukolpuzha at 3 pm on February 5. Ashok Singhal, Viswa Hindu Parishad national president, will preside over the inaugural function.
