Meet on RTI Act to discuss core issues

A meet on the Right to Information (RTI) Act and a ‘people’s assembly’ on the Act will be organised here on Sunday jointly by the Thalasssery National Constitution Club and the Human Rights Initiative (CHRI), New Delhi. A press release informing this here said the day-long meet would be held at the Royal Omars Hotel here from 9.30 a.m. It would be inaugurated by High Court judge A. Mohammed Mushtaq. The ‘people’s assembly’ would be inaugurated by State Right to Information Commissioner Vinson M. Paul. Keynote address on ‘The RTI Act and national political parties’ would be delivered by former Central RTI Commissioner and former Central Bureau of Investigation Director M.L. Sharma. Venkatesh Nayak of the CHRI would speak on ‘Cabinet decisions and the RTI Act.’ Former Director General of Prosecutions T. Asaf Ali would also address the function, the release said. The people’s assembly would discuss questions relating to the RTI Act and its applications, it added.
