Communist Party of India (Marxist) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan has accused the media of misguiding people by twisting facts and trying to tarnish the image of the party.

Addressing a gathering after releasing a book, ‘Madhyama Nunakaladu Perumazhakalam’, written by G. Vijayakumar on Tuesday, he said the annoying part was that the media failed to express regret when they proved wrong as it happened in the reporting of Paul Muthoot murder case.

He said the murder occurred when the LDF was in power. A section of the media intentionally tried to drag the name of some people into the murder case as they belonged to an ideologically opposite group.

Later when the Central Bureau of Investigation came out with its findings, which corroborated the Kerala Police version, the media played it safe by not giving the news wide coverage.

Accusing the media of having double standards while reporting recent incidents of crime in the State, Mr. Vijayan said the murder of a youth Congress activist in front of his wife at Thrissur did not find space in print and visual media.
