Medha Patkar to inaugurate endosulfan victims' protest

Environmental activist Medha Patkar will inaugurate a protest by the victims of pesticide endosulfan in front of the Secretariat here on Monday.

The protest being organised by the endosulfan victims' popular front (Edosulfan Peeditha Janakeeya Munnani) is to press for its demands relating to relief and rehabilitation of the victims.

The front is demanding that all persons affected by the pesticide be declared as victims and given assistance due to them. The rehabilitation of victims should be ensured. A tribunal should be set up to determine compensation due to the victims. Free treatment should be extended to all the victims.

R.V.G. Menon, C.R. Neelakantan, K. Ajitha, Vilayadi Venugopal, P.A. Pouran, D. Surendranath, M.A. Rahman, Ambikasutan Mangad, Anathalavattom Anandan, and other leaders will participate.

An exhibition of sculptures and photos of endosulfan victims will also held during the protest.
