Mass contact: ₹1.53 cr disbursed in Kottayam

7,465 complaints taken up at Collector’s programme

Financial assistance of ₹1.53 crore was given to the beneficiaries under the second leg of Janakeeyam 2017, a mass contact programme by the District Collector, here on Tuesday.

District Collector C.A. Latha said of this, ₹1.46 crore had already been disbursed.

Meanwhile, in addition to the people who had participated in the programme through complaints filed in advance, 224 persons arrived at the venue on Tuesday to meet the Collector. They were provided with an assistance of ₹6.54 lakh as assistance.

A total of 7,465 complaints were considered at the mass contact programme held for the Kottayam revenue division. Of this, 4,802 were for financial assistance from the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund and the rest seeking redressal of other complaints.

Among the beneficiaries was 29-year-old Pratheesh, afflicted with blood cancer. With the intervention of the Chief Minister, he was provided financial aid of ₹1 lakh towards his medical care.

Meanwhile, Arya, a young widow and mother of a five-year-old who had lost her husband within one year of their marriage in an accident, also received a financial aid of ₹1 lakh.

Cardiac patients also received financial assistance. The mass contact programme also provided possession certificates to 35 persons.

Meanwhile, the first phase of Janakeeyam 2017, held on Monday in Pala had disbursed ₹1 crore to the complainants from Pala Revenue Division. According to district authorities, 3,333 persons had participated in the mass contact programme.
