Activists of the Hindu Aikya Vedi took out a march to the office of Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, demanding closure of the place of worship operated by an evangelist group ‘Heavenly Feast’ at Nagambadom, as the building was allegedly constructed without authorisation.
Speaking on the occasion, Vedi state general secretary Kummanam Rajasekharan alleged that the Home Minister and the district authorities were hand in glove with what he termed as the ‘religious mafia’.
The evangelist group was allowed to function from the disputed structure even though there were court directives against it, Mr. Rajasekharan said.
Mr. Rajasekharan warned that they would be forced to intensify their agitation if the authorities continued to turn a deaf ear to their demands.
P. K. Krishna Das, BJP national committee member, Swamy Ayyappadas, general secretary, Kshetra Samrakshana Samithy, V. R. Rajasekharan, general secretary, Viswa Hindu Parishad, BJP district chief Ettumanur Radhakrishnan, party state committee member B. Radhakrishna Menon and others spoke on the occasion.
Earlier, the Vedi activists took out a march from Sreemahadevar Temple premises at Thirunakkara to the Minister’s office.
