The Crime Branch team investigating the murder of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) functionary E. Manoj is continuing the interrogation of K. Vikraman, prime suspect in the case, even as his disclosures are not matching the information collected by the team.
The investigators were granted custody of Vikraman after he surrendered before a court here on September 11.
No disclosures made by Vikraman during questioning over the past three days have been taken at face value as there is a huge mismatch, sources say. The investigating team exudes confidence that they will be able to unravel the facts, including details of those involved and the conspiracy.
A clear instance of the disparity in Vikraman’s disclosures is what he said about the weapons used by the assailants. As per the forensic evidence, the assailants could have used weapons such as axes to hack Manoj to death. Vikraman’s disclosure does not include axes, sources say. Therefore, the team is yet to search for the weapons said to abandoned in a river.
The investigating team also does not believe in the names of six or seven co-accused in the crime. Sources say Vikraman appears trained to face questioning.
