September 18, 2014 02:56 am | Updated 02:56 am IST - KANNUR:

The Crime Branch team investigating the murder of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) worker E. Manoj has found blood stains in the Toyota Innova car used for the conveyance of prime accused K. Vikraman from Kathirur on his way to a hideout after the incident on September 1.

Police sources close to the investigation said that blood stains were found during the forensic examination of the vehicle (KL 58 L 4747). A detailed examination of the stains will be conducted at the forensic lab. Vikraman was reported to have suffered some injuries from the shrapnel of a country-bomb hurled by the assailants on the van driven by Manoj.

The owner of the Innova, identified as one Riju, was being questioned by the investigation team. The sources said that the vehicle was said to have been hired from Riju on the pretext of a trip. The team was yet to identify the Maruti Alto car that had been used to take Vikraman from here to Payyannur for medical treatment at a cooperative hospital. The sources said that the investigating team had already cast its net wide.
