Amid speculation of the Kerala Congress (M) and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) developing political bonhomie and the Communist Party of India throwing a spanner in the works, party chairman K.M. Mani held talks with leaders of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) here on Saturday.
Answering questions from mediapersons, Mr. Mani said there was no need to enter through all open doors. IUML leaders, however, said they wanted the KC(M) to return to the UDF. Mr. Mani also participated at a memorial meeting of IUML leader E. Ahamed.
After inaugurating a district-level leadership camp of his party here, Mr. Mani said his party was not awaiting an invite from either the Left Democratic Front or the United Democratic Front.
“Then why is CPI State secretary Kanam Rajendran so anxious about the KC(M)’s entry into the LDF,” Mr. Mani asked. He said the KC(M) would join hands with parties that approved of its agenda. Mr. Mani’s reaction comes close on the heels of his sharing the dais with Mr. Rajendran at a seminar organised by the CPI(M) at its State conference in Thrissur on Friday.
