May 03, 2011 06:45 pm | Updated 06:45 pm IST - KOTTAYAM:

Kerala Congress(M) leader K.M. Mani has called for a permanent pesticide policy in the country.

He was speaking to mediapersons after a meeting of the party's steering committee here on Tuesday.

Mr. Mani said the welfare of farmers should be given due importance while charting out a policy that minimised the use of hazardous pesticides.

The committee ratified the decision of the party to expel Stephen George and Mohan Thomas, who contested the recent Assembly elections as LDF-backed Independent candidates in Kaduthuruthy and Poonjar respectively.
