Malayalam superstars to don sports cap for Kerala

While Mammooty says he has played volleyball in his younger days, Mohanlal was the wrestling champion in his college.

After promoting products ranging from jewellery, clothes, and apartments, Malayalam superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal are all set to wear new caps as brand ambassadors for sports in Kerala.

While Mammootty has heen made brand ambassador of the newly launched Kerala Volleyball League (KVL), Mohanlal has been roped in by the Kerala Athletics Federation to promote athletics in a land once famous for well-known sprinters like P T Usha and Shiny Wilson, among others.

Both the National award winning actors, who have served Malayalam film industry for nearly 30 years, are still busy.

Mammootty’s just released ‘Pazhassi Raja’, made on a Rs. 27 crore budget, is still running to packed houses in theatres in the state. The film has also been released in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. The actor has reportedly signed his first Kannada film, according to industry sources.

Same is the case with Mohanlal, who is best known for his movies of late eighties and early nineties like ‘Namukku Parkkan Munthiri Thoppukal’, ‘Nadodokkattu’, ‘Kireedam ‘, ’Devasuram’, and ‘Vanarpastham’

Both actors have essayed various roles in over 300 films each and their popularity graph seems to be rising.

Mohanlal was recently made the honorary Lt Colonel of the Indian Territorial Army and conferred an honorary D.Lit degree by the Kalady Sri Sankara Sanskrit univeristy.
