The results of the higher secondary examinations held in March this year brought cheers to the district on Thursday. Malappuram had the distinction of having the highest number of students appearing for the examinations in the State. The district stood fifth behind Kozhikode, Ernakulam, Kannur, and Wayanad in the pass percentage.
As many as 85.55 per cent of the students who wrote the examination in Malappuram qualified for higher studies. But with respect to number of students who secured A-plus in all subjects, Malappuram was pushed backwards. When Malappuram had 991 full A-plus, Thiruvananthapuram got 1,248, Kollam 1,187, Ernakulam 1,188, and Kozhikode 1,071.
P.K.M.M. Higher Secondary School, Edarikode, cornered glory not only by securing 100 per cent victory, but also getting 61 full A-plus. Among the 300 students who passed the examination from P.K.M.M. HSS, Gouthami K. Nedungadi and P.A. Nazia secured full marks.
Last year too the school had two students who got full marks. “We have won a unique position by securing 100 per cent victory for the 11 time in the State,” said P. Mohammed Basheer, school manager.
District Panchayat president Suhara Mampad felicitated the students and teachers of the school.
