Lipinraj M.P, topper among the candidates who wrote all papers in Malayalam in the Civil Services examinations 2013, has set about on a mission to help out young Civil Services aspirants in rural Kerala.

The 25-year-old partially visually challenged Civil Services trainee who secured the 224th rank in the Civil Services examinations in 2013 is currently training with Indian Railways in Ahmedabad.

His pilot programme, christened ‘Walk with a Civil Servant’, organised with the institutional support of the Kozhencherry chapter of the Young Men’s Christian Association, has been launched in his home district of Pathanamthita.

Talking to The Hindu , Mr Lipinraj said the aim was to help and encourage children to take the Civil Services and other national competitive examinations and present them with a host of opportunities. Children studying in Class X, XI, and XII are the target group of the free guidance and coaching programme.

Mr. Lipinraj says over 100 schools in the district have already registered their students under the programme. The final selection will be made strictly on the basis of a written test, group discussion, and personal interview. The coaching will be free for select meritorious candidates.

The trainees will be provided proper guidance, study materials and opportunities to interact with civil servants as part of a seven-year career plan. Talented youth belonging to the economically backward sections of society would be given books, magazines, and scholarships.

He said a final group of 10 students would be selected for personalised training and guidance. These candidates will be divided into five groups of two members each. (For more details,

“This is not a conventional coaching institute concept. Here, I am planning a more practical and totally free concept of ‘mutual help by building a chain of people having similar thoughts and vision on life,” says Mr Lipinraj.
