Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan has ruled out the possibility of the Communist Party of India(Marxist)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) having any truck with the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), a constituent of the ruling United Democratic Front (UDF) in the State.

Addressing a news conference here on Saturday, Mr. Achuthanandan said the IUML was a communal organisation. “The LDF will not forge an alliance with any communal organisation. Such suggestions had been rejected earlier also. The Left parties have a declared policy on this. The public should not be misled by rumours floated by vested interests,” he said.

He said the Supreme Court decision to issue notice to the State government, the CBI, and others on a petition filed by him seeking a CBI probe into the Kozhikode ice-cream parlour sex scandal case offered a ray of hope for the victims. Industries Minister P.K. Kunhalikutty and others had hatched a conspiracy and influenced the witnesses, created false evidence, and forged documents to save him from the case, he said. He alleged that Mr. Kunhalikutty had exploited the victims.

Minister to move court

Mr. P.K. Kunhalikutty said here on Saturday that he would move the court against Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan’s allegations against him in the ice cream parlour sex scandal case.

He alleged that Mr. Achuthanandan was making a statement revealing his reluctance to giving up the case even after it was proved false in the court.
