October 15, 2013 02:20 am | Updated November 16, 2021 08:43 pm IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

The LDF district committee has said that it would block Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and protest by waving black flags as he arrives for the mass contact programme at the Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium on October 18.

In a statement, LDF district convener V. Gangadharan Nadar said the Left would intensify its protests against the ‘exclusion’ of Mr. Chandy and his office from the ambit of the judicial probe announced into the solar scam and that it would continue to press for his resignation in the wake of the scam.

Chandy’s response

The Chief Minister said in Kochi that the government would go ahead with the ‘people’s contact programme.’ He told the media that the government would not cow down before Opposition ‘threat.’ Opposing the programme is tantamount to registering anger against the people, he said.
