LDF retains majority in Kozhikode Corporation Council

CPI (M) -led Left Democratic Front retains majority in Kozhikode Corporation Council winning 41 of 75 wards; Congress -led United Democratic Front won 34 wards. BJP drew a blank. LDF had 47 out of a total of 55 seats in the last Corporation Council.

CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) leads in elections to Kozhikode Corporation Council, and Vadakara and Koilandi municipal councils as counting of votes begins.

LDF is well ahead in Vadakara and Koilandi municipalities; it is a close race between LDF and Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) in Kozhikode Corporation, according to early indications from counting centres.

LDF wins in Koyilandy municipality

Giving a heavy blow to the opponents, the Left Democratic Front (LDF) retained their one-and-a-half decade hold in Koyilandy Municipality when the results of the local polls came out here on Sunday. The LDF secured 24 out of the 44 seats with the completion of second round counting by 11 a.m.

The United Democratic Front (UDF) won 10 seats in the municipality when the second round counting came to an end. From the beginning of counting itself, the LDF had maintained a clear lead against their opponents. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured two seats.

LDF wins Vadakara muncipality

The Left Democratic Front (LDF) came out victorious in Vadakara municipality when the results of the local polls came out here on Sunday. The LDF secured 27 seats out of 46 in the municipality.

The United Democratic Front (UDF) secured 19 seats in the contest. A rebel candidate of UDF too enjoyed victory in one of the wards in Koyilandy. meantime, the candidates of Socialist janata (Democratic) did not succeed in any seats at the electorate
