Left Democratic Front leaders of Idukki district on Wednesday met Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan seeking expeditious steps in implementing the State government’s decisions on land issues related to the issuance of title deeds.

The LDF delegation, comprising CPI district secretary K Sivaraman (who is also Idukki district LDF convener), K.K. Jayachandran of the CPI(M), Anil Kuvaplakkal (RSP), and Johnny Cheruparambil (Kerala Congress-Scaria Thomas), submitted a memorandum pointing out the delay in implementing the decisions taken at a meeting the Chief Minister had convened on March 27.

The supplementary government orders related to the distribution of title deeds had not been issued even one month after holding the pattaya mela.

The delegation wanted the government to issue a new notification on the amendment to the Land Assignment Act of 1964, besides bringing more clarity to the provisions related to transfer of land assigned under the Act.

The government was yet to issue the relevant orders related to the decision on doing away with income limit for issuance of title deeds. Similarly, no further action seemed to have been taken on the legislation on reforming the building rules exclusively for Munnar, the delegation said.
