Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has defended the United Democratic Front (UDF) government’s position in the High Court case disposing of a writ petition for blacklisting the SNC-Lavalin.

Addressing reporters after a Cabinet meeting on Friday, he said the verdict of the Division Bench on Thursday had vindicated the government’s stand seeking action against the company that had entered into a deal with the State government for repair and revival of the Pallivasal, Sengulam, and Panniyar hydro electric projects during the period 1995-97.

Asked about the affidavit filed before the court, Mr. Chandy said it was the same one submitted by the previous Left Democratic Front (LDF) government.

The then government, he said, had said that it had not incurred a loss in the deal with SNC-Lavalin.
