The Kerala Lalithakala Akademi here on Tuesday announced awards for paintings and sculptures.
The Akademi announced five State Awards (carrying Rs.25,000 and citation), five Honourable Mentions (Rs.10,000 and citation), and five Special Mentions for art students (Rs.5,000 and citation).
The State Award winners are E. Prajith (untitled painting); N. Balamuralikrishnan (untitled painting ); Santhosh Mithra (Bhoomiyude Avakashikal – painting); K.K. Jayesh (Beypore Sulthanum Pathummayude Aadum – woodcut graphics); and V.P. Sajikumar (Ten Thousand Fire Point – sculpture).
The following artists secured Honourable Mention: T.K. Anil (Flour – painting ); T.S. Prasad (Around Me – painting); Hareendran Chalad (The Unending Destination – painting); P.K. Biju (Kiss of Scheme – painting); and K.S. Prasad Kumar (untitled sculpture).
Special Mention
Five students who won the Special Mention are: R. Sivaji, Government College of Fine Arts, Thiruvananthapuram (Dog – sculpture); K.A. Mohammed Riyas, Government College of Fine Arts, Thiruvananthapuram, (Nature Study – painting); K. Deepa, Government College of Fine Arts, Thrissur (Murder – drawing); S.S. Sanoj, Raja Ravi Varma College of Fine Arts, Mavelikara (untitled painting); and Jobin Thomas, RLV College of Music and Fine Arts, Trippunithura (untitled painting).
Vibin Raphael won V. Sankara Menon Endowment gold medal and R.B. Shajith got Vijayaraghavan Endowment gold medal.
In all, 229 artworks were considered for awards.
Eminent artists D.L.N. Reddy (Secunderabad), Rajasekharan Nair (Baroda), and K.K. Rajappan (Thiruvananthapuram) were the jury members.
