The Kerala Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samithi (KVVES) has registered its protest against the government move to enforce a ban on printing flex boards.

In a communication here on Sunday, leaders of the Samithi said that it would uproot the self-employment opportunities of several young entrepreneurs in the sector. “At present, flex printing is the cheapest medium of public advertisement option for many traders in Kerala. The Kerala government too is getting steady revenue from the industry,” said T. Nazirudeen, State president of KVVES.

According to him, there were over 2,000 flex board printing units in Kerala, which will be hit by the government move. Over 10,000 entrepreneurs were making their living in the trade which could not be ignored in the race of banning flex boards, he said. The KVVES leaders submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister and other Ministers seeking a “humanitarian approach” on the issue.

The Chief Secretary too had been requested to look into the issue.
