KVASU to launch skill development courses

Courses at Thumbermuzhi farm in Thrissur from 2015-16

A recent meeting of the senior officials of the Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU), chaired by Vice Chancellor B. Ashok, decided to launch diploma courses in Livestock Production and Integrated Farming.

The one-year skill-oriented diploma programmes would be launched at the Cattle Breeding Farm of the KVASU at its Thumbermuzhi farm in Thrissur district in the 2015-16 academic year, Dr. Ashok told The Hindu after the meeting.

Semester system will be followed for the course, he added. Minimum qualification will be SSLC or Plus 2.

Milkobike

The KVASU would launch Milkobike skill-development programme to train milking technicians to meet the scarcity of milkers in the State, T.P. Sethumadhavan, Director of Entrepreneurship, KVASU, said.

A farm tourism project, consisting of sales and entrepreneurship development programme, would also be implemented at Thumbermuzhi, Dr. Sethumadhavan added.
