The Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU) and the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for collaboration in various aspects of animal husbandry sector in the State.
The MoU, signed by Kasiraj, General Manager, NDDB, and Joseph Mathew, Registrar, KVASU, in the presence of T. Nandakumar, chairman, NDDB, envisages promoting scientific cooperation, conducting joint research, training and extension of scientific animal husbandry practices and student internship at NDDB head quarters, Gujarat.
The joint venture aims at improving productivity using inputs such as mineral mixture, parasite control, ration balancing programme, cow comfort, animal welfare, fodder development and area-specific fertilizer and extension tools.
The university has already established collaboration with organisations such as the Kerala Forest Research Institute; University of Edinburgh, UK; Kerala Forest Department and University of Calgary, Canada, for student training and research.
