The selection of Kudumbasree being chosen as the nodal agency for implementation of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) in Kerala is a testament to its success in empowering communities, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said here on Sunday.

Delivering the inaugural address of the 15th anniversary celebrations of Kudumbasree here on Sunday, he said the State government would campaign to have the Kudumbasree’s development model adopted by the Centre and other States.

Finance Minister K.M. Mani announced that the government would write off Rs.12 crore of housing loans taken by Kudumbasree members through cooperative banks. The one-time waiver was to help the women redouble their efforts to facilitate self-employment, which was the only way to reduce unemployment.
