Kudumbasree has provided a two-day training to officials from Arunachal Pradesh on implementing the National Urban Livelihoods Mission.

The project is being implemented by the Union government across the country since 2013 with the aim of alleviating urban poverty.

However, the project is only in the first phase in some northeastern States, including Arunachal Pradesh.

Nodal agency

Kudumbasree, which is the nodal agency for implementing the project in Kerala, was asked by the Union government to extend help to such States for giving a fillip to the MULM.

Understanding

As per an understanding with the Arunachal Pradesh government, Kudumbasree conducted the training for officials there recently.

Arunachal had a population of 13 lakh, of which 23% live in urban areas.

Itanagar and Pasighat are the two municipalities there.
