Labour Minister P.K. Gurudasan has called upon the Kudumbasree workers to focus on farming in view of the State's backwardness in agricultural production.

The Minister was inaugurating the anniversary celebrations of the District Kudumbasree Mission at the Shine Tower auditorium here on Saturday.

He said food production should be considerably improved in the State where cash crops were in plenty.

Self reliance for women

Mr. Gurudasan said Kudumbasree Mission was a great success in taking the womenfolk to the mainstream and making them self-reliant besides achieving equal status for women in the society.

K. Sivadasan Nair, MLA, presided over the function. Anto Antony, MP, delivered the keynote address.

Adoor Prakash, Raju Abraham, MLAs, Appinazhakath Santhakumari, district panchayat president, A.P.Jayan, vice-president, Zakir Hussein, municipal chairman and S. Lalithambika, District Collector, also spoke.
