KSSP workshops on Kannur eco issues

The Kerala Sastra Sahithya Parishad (KSSP) will conduct eight workshops in the next one month as part of its initiative to study environmental issues in the district.

The KSSP office bearers, in a press release, said that it had intervened in over 100 major and minor environmental issues in the district and was now planning to compile its findings in a book.

The workshops were being held in this regard.

The first workshop would be held at the Parishad Bhavan here at 3 p.m. on February 17 on environmental issues related to laterite mining and the Pazhassi project and model paddy cultivation at Arayidam here.

The second workshop would be held at 3 p.m. at the same venue on February 19.

The topics to be discussed at the workshop will be environmental issues at Mangattuparamba, contamination of water from textile industry and climate change and protection of butterflies.

The release said that the second workshop would be followed by 10 weekly workshops on 45 environmental issues.

The KSSP plans to compile its findings on environmental issues in a book.
