The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has informed the Kerala High Court that it has replaced 162 super-class bus services operated by private operators, following the expiry of their permits. In an affidavit, the KSRTC said the super class bus permits issued to private operators were only a stopgap arrangement. Subsequently, the KSRTC decided to operate super-class services in the State. In fact, of the 1,350 buses the corporation decided to purchase, 500 were exclusively meant for operating super class services.

Bar case

Kerala Bar Hotels’ Association State president D. Raj Kumar on Tuesday filed a writ petition in the High Court challenging the Lok Ayukta order asking him to appear before it on March 27 in connection with the bar bribery case. Mr. Kumar said the Lok Ayukta had exceeded its jurisdiction. He contended that the Lok Ayukta could not conduct a parallel investigation along with the Vigilance probe.
