The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) as on Wednesday has earned record profit by running chain services between Pampa and Nilackal, said V.M. Manoj, KSRTC special officer.
Talking to The Hindu , Mr. Manoj said the corporation had operated 14,232 trips from its depot at Pampa to the pilgrims’ base camp at Nilackal in the past 32 days. It had run 13,987 chain services during the same period in the previous year.
Revenue up The special officer said the KSRTC has earned revenue of Rs. 3,82,65,412 from its Pampa-Nilackal chain services as on Wednesday midnight as compared to Rs 2,81,36,707 revenue earnings during the same period in 2013.
Mr. Manoj said the KSRTC has conducted a total of 9,709 services to Pampa from its various depots across the State as on Wednesday evening. As per the available KSRTC records, the maximum number of services to Pampa had been made from the Chengannur railway station. The corporation operated 2,499 trips to Pampa from Chengannur. According to him, the Chengannur depot tops in the number of trips to Pampa followed by the Kottayam depot with 1,340 trips as on Wednesday evening.
The total number of services operated from various depots in the past 32 days are: Erumeli: 965, Pathanamthitta: 809, Ernakulam: 774, Kottarakkara: 727; Kumily: 498; and Thiruvananthapuram: 469; besides 1,628 services from various other parts of the State, said the special officer. He said the corporation has pressed into service six low-floor buses and a Volvo bus for its Pampa special service from Chengannur and Thiruvananthapuram.
He said the corporation had been operating inter-State services to Palani, Thenkasi, Coimbatore, and Bangalore from Pampa since the past 10 days.
