KSRTC links with redBus to increase online reservation

Facility will be available from May 21

The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is set to join the country’s largest online bus ticketing platform- redBus.in - on May 21 as part of its efforts to increase online reservation for its schedules.

With this, the tickets of fast-passenger services to multi-axle Scania and Volvo operated under the brand Garuda Maharaja by the KSRTC will be available round the clock on redBus.in.

KSRTC Chairman and Managing Director Tomin J. Thachankary said the facility was in addition to the online services provided through ksrtconline.com. Now, tickets for KSRTC services would be available through the websites of makemytrip and goibibo.

A link will be provided on the official KSRTC website to reach the online bus ticketing platform. It will be a pilot project for three months and will be expanded if reservation via the platform goes up, a KSRTC official said. redBus.in has agreed to do promotions for the State transport utility.

On an average, 7,000 tickets are booked online through the KSRTC website daily for 350 buses netting ₹25 to ₹30 lakh. The KSRTC expects a quantum jump in online reservation with it joining the private ticketing platform.

The online bus ticketing platform has a sale of over 10,00,00,000 bus tickets via web, mobile, and agents. redBus.in operates on over 84,000 routes and is associated with 2,300 operators.

The KSRTC launched internet ticket booking in November 2009.
