The 26th State conference of the Kerala State Financial Enterprises (KSFE) Staff Association will be held at the Mammen Mappillai Hall here on June 24 and 25.

Addressing a press meet, Kerala State Financial Enterprises Staff Association (KSFESA) State president C.B.C. Warrier elaborated on the various programmes to be held as part of the conference.

Mr. Warrier also highlighted the efforts of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) governments in converting the KSFE from a financial institution to a vehicle for development in the State. “In 1996, the LDF government played a huge role in the development of the institution. The policies that were laid out led to a huge increase in the number of chit members,” he said.

According to him, memberships increased from 3,57,350 to 6,85,299 at present. An additional workforce of 1,652 people has been added to the institution. “The present profit turnover of KSFE is Rs.23 crore as compared to Rs.3 crore in 1996,” he said.

As part of the conference, Finance Minister Thomas Isaac will inaugurate the proceedings. A seminar on Central-State Budgets and Public Sector institutions will be inaugurated by Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) State secretary V.V. Sasheendran. Another seminar on the development and clients of KSFE will also be held on the day.

A delegates' meet will take place on the concluding day.
