Minister for Power A.K. Balan has said that if the proposed SmartCity Kochi was not to materialize then the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) would demand the 100 acres it had handed over the project.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function held here on Tuesday, Mr. Balan said that if not the full extent at least half of it would be demanded back. He said that the land so recalled would be utilised for the proposed Brahmapuram power generation project.
KSEB had handed over 100 acres, which was part of the 206 acres of its Brahmapuram Diesel Power Project, for the SmartCity project back in 2008. The land was part of the 246 acres earmarked by the State government for the IT project at Edachira near Kakkanad.
