Krishnadas flays CPI(M) for criticising Church

August 30, 2014 12:17 pm | Updated 12:17 pm IST - Kochi:

BJP leader P.K. Krishnadas on Friday lambasted the CPI(M) for an article written by its State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan which was critical of the statements made by Cardinal Baselios Cleemis Catholicos, head of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church, after his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Mr. Krishnadas alleged that the article instigated communal tensions and demonstrated the despair and angst of the CPI(M) after its debacle in the last parliamentary polls.

“The CPI(M) cannot digest the fact that the spiritual leader was satisfied with the way the Union government was functioning. They are scared of losing ground among religious minorities, who the CPI(M) said, would have to go through hell under a government led by Narendra Modi. Now that the argument has fallen flat, the party is trying to browbeat them into towing their lines,” he said.

Mr. Krishnadas also attacked the Congress-led State government for turning its back on railway development in the State.
